next AP-meeting

Dear All, at our last AP-meeting we had envisioned to call in the Nov AP-meeting for tomorrow (6 Nov, 11am (CET)) - if needed. Considering that we have been at meetings now a lot over the last days, I would rather refrain from calling in a AP-meeting tomorrow, unless you feel that such meeting would be beneficial for next week's AP-program of the collaboration meeting. in preparation for HESS-AP meeting

Dear Colleagues, one of the items to discuss at our upcoming meeting on Friday is the OC procedures for proposal evaluation & link to AP. I heard from many sides from within AP and OC that last proposal round's proposal review procedures were not optimal, there is significant room for improvements. The OC, in several telecons, has therefore prepared a couple of suggestions, that we shall discuss in the upcoming AP-meeting. I have linked this document to the AP-meeting agenda (https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/Vibe+meeting+2020-1…) for you to read in preparation for the AP-meeting, and invited Gerd as representative of the OC to join our meeting. The most time-consuming item on our next meeting will be to discuss the AP-department's contribution to the upcoming HESS collaboration meeting. To streamline our discussions here, let me list a few points that we shall discuss on Friday: (1) General mode of presentations (2) AP sessions arranged topic-wise (as last time), or AWG-wise? Transition to Zoom within H.E.S.S.

Dear WG and department leads, we are planning the transition of all the video conferences within H.E.S.S. from Vibe/eZuce to Zoom in the coming months (deadline is the end of the year from when the Vibe contract will be discontinued). We would therefore encourage you to start scheduling your HESS-related meetings already now using Zoom. For those who do not have a Zoom license available from their host institute/university, we will provide access to a common license for WG/Department leads which allows up to 300 participants. 2019 HESS data

Color code: Yellow backdrop = ToO sources All of the 2019 data are in Europe and calibrated This is not quite at the stage yet that was intended, but gives you an idea for the 2019 data. 2017 and 2018 will follow. 2020: All data taken until P8 will be in Europe and calibrated by the next collaboration meeting. This includes (most) of the data taken on Eta Car, Cen A, IGS, HESSJ1832-093, J2019+368, Kepler SNR, SS 433, PSR 1413-6025 plus ToOs plus proposals that were started but not yet completed Best regards, Stefan

The call for proposals in MAGIC is open. Although MAGIC is not an open observatory, the MAGIC collaboration encourages individual external scientists to propose observations to be performed with the MAGIC telescopes. Observation time will be granted by the Time Allocation Committee based on scientific merit. The observation cycle 16 spans from 2021 January 25th to 2022 January 23rd. *The deadline to submit the MAGIC proposals is October 23rd at 23:00 CET*. In any case, we encourage external scientists to contact the MAGIC physics coordinator (antonio.stamerra(a)inaf.it <mailto:antonio.stamerra@inaf.it>), preferably before October 2nd. The analysis of the data requires specific expertise and tools.
