Dear All,
since we talked about HESS proposals at last Wednesday's brief
AP-meeting: The envisioned submission deadline for HESS proposals will
be 16 Dec (will also be announced today).
Best,
Anita

Dear All,
at our last AP-meeting we had envisioned to call in the Nov
AP-meeting for tomorrow (6 Nov, 11am (CET)) - if needed. Considering
that we have been at meetings now a lot over the last days, I would
rather refrain from calling in a AP-meeting tomorrow, unless you feel
that such meeting would be beneficial for next week's AP-program of the
collaboration meeting. Please let me know by tomorrow, 8am (CET), at the
latest.
All the best,
Anita
Dear Anita, dear all,
During the last meeting we decided to summarize the status of the different AP WGs in preparation of the collaboration meeting (similar to what we did last time). Where should we put these summaries (once they would be ready ;-)? Next to the WG sessions? Or is there a more centralized place?
Cheers,
Fabian

Dear All,
many AWGs have already had (and probably plan to extend on this)
many interesting science plans and discussions for the extension phase
of HESS. In order to feed this into a lively HESS extension phase
session during the collaboration meeting, it would be very helpful if
you could feed these ideas into the corresponding table

All the best,
and stay healthy!

Instead of 2 x 30min time slots on new proposals 2021 I now made room for several dedicated 12min time slots. Please use these to present your AWG's view & ideas for the upcoming proposal season. The HESS future discussion will take place in a dedicated afternoon session on 10 Nov (Tue). For this purpose please be reminded to fill in the table on:

Dear Colleagues,
one of the items to discuss at our upcoming meeting on Friday is
the OC procedures for proposal evaluation & link to AP. I heard from
many sides from within AP and OC that last proposal round's proposal
review procedures were not optimal, there is significant room for
improvements. The OC, in several telecons, has therefore prepared a
couple of suggestions, that we shall discuss in the upcoming AP-meeting.
I have linked this document to the AP-meeting agenda
(https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/Vibe+meeting+2020-1…)
for you to read in preparation for the AP-meeting, and invited Gerd as
representative of the OC to join our meeting.
The most time-consuming item on our next meeting will be to discuss the
AP-department's contribution to the upcoming HESS collaboration meeting.
To streamline our discussions here, let me list a few points that we
shall discuss on Friday:
(1) General mode of presentations
(2) AP sessions arranged topic-wise (as last time), or AWG-wise?
(3) Time slots
(4) Proposal 2021 discussions
(5) HESS-XX discussions
(6) Reports (AWG?, MWLB)
I also prepared a confluence page where we shall collect
requests/proposals for presentations:
https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/Preparation+of+Astr…
Connection details (let's try zoom this time for this meeting) will follow.
Talk to you soon!
All the best,
Anita
Dear WG and department leads,
we are planning the transition of all the video conferences within H.E.S.S.
from Vibe/eZuce to Zoom in the coming months (deadline is the end of the
year from when the Vibe contract will be discontinued). We would therefore
encourage you to start scheduling your HESS-related meetings already now
using Zoom.
For those who do not have a Zoom license available from their host
institute/university, we will provide access to a common license for
WG/Department leads which allows up to 300 participants. In this case,
please contact me and Stefan Ohm to obtain access information.
Thanks,
Heike and Stefan

Dear all,
following up on the summary of 2019 data that I showed in the meeting this
morning:
Attached please find a slightly enhanced version of the observing summary
of 2019.
Color code:
Yellow backdrop = ToO sources
All of the 2019 data are in Europe and calibrated
This is not quite at the stage yet that was intended, but gives you an idea
for the 2019 data. 2017 and 2018 will follow.
2020:
All data taken until P8 will be in Europe and calibrated by the next
collaboration meeting.
This includes (most) of the data taken on
Eta Car, Cen A, IGS, HESSJ1832-093, J2019+368, Kepler SNR, SS 433, PSR
1413-6025 plus ToOs plus proposals that were started but not yet completed
Best regards,
Stefan
Dear All,
this (see below) is for your information. Apologies to those who
received this announcement already through other channels.
All the best,
Anita

Betreff: [cta-members] MAGIC call for proposals during 2021 is open -
Deadline October 23 2020
Datum: Thu, 10 Sep 2020 14:22:33 +0200
Von: Oscar Blanch <blanch(a)ifae.es>
An: cta-members(a)cta-observatory.org <cta-members(a)cta-observatory.org>
Dear Colleagues,
You may have already learned through other means, still let me share it
here.
The call for proposals in MAGIC is open. Although MAGIC is not an open
observatory, the MAGIC collaboration encourages individual external
scientists to propose observations to be performed with the MAGIC
telescopes. Observation time will be granted by the Time Allocation
Committee based on scientific merit.
The observation cycle 16 spans from 2021 January 25th to 2022 January
23rd. *The deadline to submit the MAGIC proposals is October 23rd at
23:00 CET*. In any case, we encourage external scientists to contact the
MAGIC physics coordinator (antonio.stamerra(a)inaf.it
<mailto:antonio.stamerra@inaf.it>), preferably before October 2nd.
The analysis of the data requires specific expertise and tools. Some
members from the MAGIC team will be supporting the external projects
throughout the entire procedure of proposal submission, and (if the
observation time is granted) data reduction and publication.
Additional details, instructions, documentation, and the tools required
to prepare and submit proposals are available via:
https://magic.mpp.mpg.de/outsiders/magicop/
Best regards,
Oscar Blanch for the MAGIC Collaboration
