Dear All,
the deadline for uploading the ICRC material is approaching (5
July), accordingly the time for circulation of the ICRC material to the
collaboration. If not done so yet, you may want to remind your WG to
upload the ICRC drafts to the confluence page
(https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/ICRC+2021 )
soon, also to give you a chance for reviewing the proceedings in time.
All the best,
Anita
Dear all,
since this morning, ToO observation (defined as having the string "ToO"
in the target name) are automatically scheduled for priority transfer to
Lyon & HD.
For other priority target, specific request by email is still needed

Dear All,
our next AP-call was originally planned for 4 June; however, due to
personal reasons I need to shift it, to either before or after this
date. I therefore prepared a small poll which I'd like you to fill in
till coming Wednesday (26 May) at the very latest.
https://framadate.uibk.ac.at/studs.php?sondage=4i8u7z63z4l682qh
I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Best wishes,
and have a nice Pentecost!
Anita
Dear All,
the minutes of our last AP-call are online at
https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/Meetings+of+the+Ast…
with action items indicated as always. In particular, I would like to
draw your attention to:
(1) Please make an effort to fill the Legacy Program page on
https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/Towards+the+H.E.S.S…
Nothing put down here is final. It is, however, important to get a first
rough estimate about envisioned science cases, corresponding sources
required to be observed, and very rough estimate of the required
observing time. You may use also the Science Document linked to this
page as basis/ideas. To facilitate this for you I included some tables
to this confluence page which I'd ask you kindly to fill in within the
next ~2 weeks.
Please feel free to also change, modify, add, etc the "themes" (my
humple own ideas) listed on this page. Nobody is restricted to one
particular theme. Everybody is encouraged to edit everything.
(2) ICRC contributions: Please observe the progress of the intended ICRC
contributions, in particular the critical ones, and keep the table on
https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/ICRC+2021
updated. It would be highly beneficial to identify those projects which
are likely not able to meet the criteria for conference contributions in
time, as early as possible, to withdraw them.
Best wishes,
Anita

The main item on our agenda
https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/Zoom+meeting+2021-0…
is certainly the H.E.S.S. Legacy program, which I think should not go
without multiwavelength advice.
Please feel free to add further agenda items as you feel are appropriate.
Looking forward to talking to you soon!
Best wishes,
Anita
Dear Stefan, All,The A&R review start deadline for the ICRC 2021 passed,
and now the next deadline is the walkthrough talk in the 24th May. We
currently think that this schedule will be very difficult to be
respected by a significant part of ICRC 2021 contributions, given the
short time between the A&R review start deadline (3 weeks) and the fact
that a CTA consortium meeting is planned from the 10 to 21 of May.
Moreover, we think that the time allocated between WT talk (24th May)
and the proceeding circulation (21st June) is too long, given the fact
that a draft should be available for the WT talk, presented to the
collaboration and reviewed a first time (so the proceeding is already
drafted at this stage). We would like to suggest to move the deadline for
the WT talk to june 7, this will let two weeks for analysers to
implement WT collaboration comments to the draft, circulate the
proceeding on the 21st of june as already planned, and get a second
round of collaboration comments to be implemented before the ICRC
proceeding submission.Let us know your opinion on this,
Best regards,
Sami and François.
Dear all,
the CB is still ongoing, but the proposal to run with a legacy program has
been accepted.
I will rephrase some pre-prepared introductory slides and upload theme
tonight. In case you wish to show slides, feel free to link them as well.
Best regards,
Stefan

Dear all,
this is a brief preview for tomorrow afternoon.
The suggestion to implement a multi-year legacy program will be discussed
in the CB this afternoon.
In case the legacy program will be accepted, we should move towards the
specific proposal rather soon.
In case it would not get accepted, our discussion on legacy ideas would be
a guideline for the preparations of proposals in the traditional manner,
but we might bring the new call for proposals forward by a few months
(about the time of the next meeting).
In either case, you are asked to give a statement in the session tomorrow
afternoon about which OBSERVATIONS you consider to be of interest for a
legacy proposal (this is not about science projects with archival or 2020
data).
Please stay within 9 minutes to allow for general questions.
We suggest to set up 3 breakout rooms at 15:30 to extend the discussions
in three main areas:
Galactic sources
Extragalactic Sources and Transients
Diffuse Emission and Survey Observations
Best regards,
Stefan
PS: I will obviously let you know about the CB decision asap.

Dear All,
a draft for the AP-program for the upcoming HESS collaboration
meeting is available at:
https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/Astrophysics+Sessio…
Please, check out whether you're happy with it (scheduling, etc) & let
me know by Monday 4pm if you see any problems. Please also feel free to
adjust the talk/discussion duration of the talks of your WG (I may have
over/under-estimated some) as long as all remains within the respective
session time.
Also please don't forget to ask for break-out rooms (see table on
https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/2021+April+virtual+…
) for your HESS Science discussion rounds. A good way to focus these
discussions would be to come up in the end with an ordered priority list
of the science your WG is envisioning to pursue with HESS over the next
years (i.e., if extension is granted). The results of these discussions
is foreseen to be presented by each convener in the Thursday (29 April)
afternoon session.
All the best,
Anita
Dear all,
in order to clarify the status of the 'legacy program' I would like to sum
up the status reported on in our last AP meeting.
- setting up a legacy program has not yet been decided or approved.
- the suggestion to start a legacy program will be proposed to the CB.
- The CB will take a decision.
- The proposal has been announced to the SC for information.
- in case we move ahead with this proposal, we should define the legacy
program early and hence want to use this meeting for discussion.
- in case the CB would prefer to continue with the current procedure, the
consideration towards a legacy proposal will still help to define our
priorities.
- The CB will meet on the day before our discussion session and we shall
hence know its opinion when we start the session on the HESS legacy.
- I attach the draft of the proposal to the CB for your information.
An updated version of this will be shown as introduction to the discussion
session on 'HESS Legacy' (reflecting the opinions of the CB).
Best regards,
Stefan
