Dear astrophysics WG conveners,
We usually have our AP meeting on the second Friday of the month. Since April 1 was last Saturday, this means we meet on April 14.
However, that is very close to the H.E.S.S. Spring meeting.
I would like to have your opinion on whether we can move it to this Friday. The drawback is that it is Good Friday, which may be a holiday in some countries.
Yet another option would be to have a meeting earlier next week. I could arrange something Wednesday morning.
So options are:
a) Friday April 14
b) Friday April 7
c) Meeting earlier, most likely April 12.
Cheers,
Jacco
Dear WG conveners,
This Friday will be the 2nd Friday of the month, which means that we will have our online Astrophysics meeting.

Dear Jacco, dear all,
Following up on the discussion during the last call: I can confirm that the abstract submission to the ICRC in only possibly after (a somewhat tedious) registration process. This needs to be taken into account especially for those people who may need the approval of their institute/supervisor/etc. before being able to register. The payment of the registration fees can be done at a later date.
Cheers,
Fabian

Dear WG conveners,
First of all a reminder that I need to shift the HESS AP meeting to 11:00 (I may enter slightly late)!
Secondly, the ICRC abstract submission deadline is extended to the 20th. However, some may want to submit earlier.
We did not set a formal way for the go ahead. So to make things clear, I suggest the following:
Within the WGs you discussed the ICRC suggestions. From this process it is clear who should write abstracts (and many are in place!)
Now please go through the abstracts of your WG and approve, or reject, or make improvement suggestions. Also check the language of the text for clarity.
Do not hesitate to involve someone else if you need some additional expertise. The approved abstract can have a green approved label.
I will send a reminder to hess-active about this as well. Presenters/authors should add a “submitted” label under abstract, once they have submitted.
Let me know asap if you have problems with this procedure.
Cheers,
Jacco
Dear All,
Two things. Something came up for coming Friday, and would like to have the HESS-AP meeting at 11:15 rather than 10:00.
Please let me know who cannot make it that time!
Secondly, the ICRC 2023 deadline has been extended by 10 days. That shouldn’t affect our internal schedule, but perhaps there are some issues
still. So we can discuss this Friday.
Best,
Jacco

Dear WG conveners,
There are requests to put the AP minutes on confluence. Are there any objection to this?
The latest one is below. Let me know if it need some corrections? @Kathrin: you mentioned a name of the member
who starts working on cosmic rays. I did record it. Perhaps you can add.
Please provide objections/edits by Thursday.
Next HESS-AP will be February 10.
Best,
Jacco

HESS AP meeting 13/1/2023
Present: Jacco Vink, Stefan Wagner, Brian Reville, Jonathan Mackey, Kathrin Egberts,
Absent: Sabrina Casanova, Fabian Schlüssler, Matteo Cerruti, Dieter Horns
-Welcome
-Discussion on outcome of OC
* OC has internal ranking, but approved list with A/B ranking expected end of the month
* 500 hr requested: matches availibility without new legacy targets
* For P1 program is in good shape
* Judgement on Legacy expected later: there were issues with submission process
* OC Process: not all OC members present all the time, some conflicts: variance can be large on ranking
* Strive to add one or two members next round, preferably with Fermi experience
-ICRC contributions
* See https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=477… for timeline abstract submissions
* Submitted contributions will need a talk on next H.E.S.S. coll. meeting Apr 17...
-Usual rules apply: we want papers presented that are journal submitted or close to submission
* WG conveners/AP dept should follow up rules in order to not send clear message. That may mean retracting talks for papers not yet in their final stages
* As it is also HESS advertisements: WG conveners should think which results need to be presented irrespective of availibility of project leaders. (But no overlap with previous ICRC)
* Round of WGs:
* Transients: WT talk on Tuesday 24th Jan 9:30 on GRB221009A
* Diffuse: Sabrina will continue as WG convener
* SNRPP: overview on talks: L. Guinti on Vela Jr, on HESSj1518; Collaboration between eROSITA and Vela-X not to be followed up
* Stellar: Eta Car, difficulties in analysis also in view of previous results, but there is a detection; SS443 project. internally reviewed. SS443 to be considered for ICRC.
* CR WG: ECAPP members will work on cosmic-ray detections with HESS adding a new project to this WG.
-AOB
SW: people need to actively update the conference list on https://hess-confluence.desy.de/confluence/display/HESS/Astrophysics+Depart…
SW: often observed data take a long time before people start on analyzing them. WG conveners need to keep an eye on this
Dear WG conveners,
Please fine below a short summary of the last AP meeting. If there inaccuracies or additions, please let me
know.
I have things that need some follow up or require special attention in boldface.
